Have you seen the 'Fire lion'? Well, this is not a hologram.
For the last few days, 'the fire lion' has been the big news in the media. As CNN writes - hologram of a flaming lion opened the football stadium in Argentina.
Although spectacular, as a leader in this industry we must be pain in the a** and note this is not hologram...
Just to be clear, it is not a hologram you think of, it is just a nice example of a AUGMENTED REALITY (AR).
----
LET'S INSERT A SMALL "NEW TRENDS IN THE DIGITAL WORLD" DICTIONARY HERE!
a/ AR = AUGMENTED REALITY
If you ask yourself what AR game means, the best way to explain it is: visual and auditive content that considers the user's environment in real time.
AR fulfils 3 basic features:
(1) a combination of real and virtual world
(2) real-time interaction
(3) accurate 3D registration of virtual and real objects
b/ HOLOGRAM
On the other hand, hologram do not require the aid of any special glasses or external equipment for a viewer to see the image.
So main distinction is that hologram is something you can see with your own eyes and it is real in space. AR, on the other side, as the word 'augmented' (to augment = to enhance/increase) says, it is artificial reality and needs special glasses or external equpment.
(The lion could be viewed by fans watching on television but those in the stadium had to watch through an app on their phones or on the big screen.)

But, linguistic definitions aside, the good news is that this is a great example for Croatian market too!
